Remote event production

Mastering increasing requirements despite stagnating budgets.

Challenges with remote event productions

What the audience doesn't see is our greatest achievement

MEDIA Division-1

Forward-looking but complex

Remote production has become a central component of modern media production. It takes the areas of such as direction, graphics and technology from the stadiums or event locations to central production hubs -making the IP network the digital nervous system of the show .

Despite its advantages - such as greater efficiency through synergies, flexible team structures and reduced travel expenses - it brings with it a number of specific challenges. For example, the demands on the IT infrastructure in terms of connectivity, quality and operation increase significantly because the network becomes the critical backbone of the entire production - and therefore plays a key role in determining efficiency, budget compliance and on-air quality.

Parallel productions at different locations, denser production architectures and additional feeds, data and cloud workflows also make remote production increasingly complex. Without properly planned signal paths, QoS profiles, a reliable redundancy concept and coordinated operating processes , bottlenecks, latency peaks or outages have a direct impact on production output - with corresponding risks for the brand, rights and viewer experience.

Remote event productions

Efficiency, flexibility, scalability and innovation.

Our media-optimized Managed WAN and SD-WAN services provide you with reliable, low-latency and fully redundant connections for video, audio, intercom and control data worldwide - based on clearly defined SLAs and continuous 24/7 operation.

RIEDEL Networks plans and operates your contribution and production networks in such a way that they keep pace with new formats and offer you more freedom for creative concepts. Whether you're moving into remote event productions or looking to make existing setups more robust and efficient, our media team will analyze your current architecture and develop a network design that fits your production needs and long-term competitiveness.

Foreign studios

The networking of foreign studios places special demands on quality and availability in order totransmit a wide variety of live video signalsas well as voice and data in parallel. Accordingly, RIEDEL Networks operatesseveral managed WAN services or Ethernet services for various broadcasters.

Remote production

RIEDEL Networks manages customized transmission networks for the decoupling of on-site production steps and further processing in one or more remote studios. Its long-standing customers include various sports series and sports productions.

Events & Festivals

Temporary events bring with them special requirements, such as high-performance internet connection for cashless payment, organization and security. The RIEDEL Group takes a holistic approach and offers a comprehensive catalog of products and services, including CCTV, visitor counting and more. Depending on the event, the services can be individually compiled and adapted.

Conferences & Promotions

Conferences, political summits, general meetings or promotions are also part of our customers. Whether live video or streaming, whether in the openair or Felix Baumgartner 's stratospheric jump , we deliver the transmission.
RIEDEL Networks is your partner for a customized and flexible solution.

What do you have to watch out for?

If you know the challenges of remote event productions, you can face them with confidence!

CameraNetwork quality & latency

Uncompressed or slightly compressed real-time video, audio, intercom and control data react extremely sensitively to packet loss and jitter - best-effort internet therefore quickly reaches its limits in remote setups. We design bandwidths, QoS classes and latency budgets specifically for your productions so that the control room, technology and automation systems can work reliably in real time and creative decisions do not fail because of the network.

Process optimizationScaling & flexibility

We connect new locations, stadiums or event locations via various access technologies - from fiber optics and Ethernet to business Internet and LTE/5G. Our SD-WAN overlays can be used to dynamically expand or reduce additional productions, feeds or pop-up studios based on predefined profiles - with recurring designs instead of complex individual solutions.

SystemanalyseRedundancy & availability

Physically and logically separated line paths and redundantly designed CPEs form the basis for fail-safe remote productions. Intelligent failover mechanisms (Seamless Protection Switching) and clearly defined time-to-repair targets ensure that the failure of a line does not lead to an interruption in transmission - and give your teams the security they need for demanding live formats.

computer securitySecurity

We use targeted protection mechanisms to secure critical ingest, control and management points of your production networks - for example through DDoS protection, strictly segmented production zones and optional security services such as RIEDEL Enterprise Defense [R.E.D.] including 24/7 security monitoring. This means that remote control rooms, production hubs and connected cloud workloads remain protected without jeopardizing the tight latency requirements of your live productions - and you strengthen your compliance and audit capability at the same time.

Protection_SmartphoneOperation & NOC

In our 24/7 NOC, lines, CPEs and central media nodes are permanently monitored; if necessary, we coordinate the carriers and service providers involved directly. For you, this means: a central point of contact, defined escalation processes and proactive incident management- so that your remote productions are not characterized by ticket chaos, but by clear responsibilities and rapid assistance.
