Live streaming
When it really matters!
Key factors in live streaming
Successfully implementing streaming events despite complex requirements
Live is live
Whether it's sport, a concert or a corporate event, the only thing that counts for your audience is that the image and sound are brilliant and synchronized at all times. In the background, connections, bandwidth, latency, redundancy and security have to mesh perfectly. RIEDEL Networks provides the IP infrastructure on which live streaming runs reliably, scalably and securely - precisely when your brand is in the spotlight. The real-time transmission of content over the Internet in particular poses frequent challenges.
Mastering live streaming
Planning, technology, control - for a smooth experience
These live streaming challenges for media companies require careful planning, the right technology infrastructure, high quality equipment and effective monitoring during live streaming. With good preparation and the right handling of these challenges, a successful and smooth live streaming experience can be created for the audience.

Up to the challenges?
What it takes to be well positioned in live streaming!
Internet connection and bandwidth
We use dedicated uplinks - from Dedicated Internet Access to Layer 2 Ethernet and MPLS links - so that your encoders and streamingedges get the guaranteed bandwidth they need. Depending on the event, we combine several access routes and use protection mechanisms and protocols such as SST, LRT, SRT and SMPTE ST 2022-7 so that line faults and intrusions remain invisible to your audience.
Scalability and load distribution
With SD-WAN, we bundle various underlays (e.g. DIA, MPLS and Layer 2 routes) into a high-performance, logical transport layer and distribute the traffic intelligently across several uplinks. This ensures that your streaming infrastructure remains stable even during sudden access peaks and growing viewer numbers - without compromising on bit rates and quality.
Latency
For live streaming, we plan IP paths with clearly defined runtimes - from the venue via our MPLS backbone and layer 2 routes through to cloud workloads and CDNs. Your signals reach the encoder, streaming platform and apps with the lowest possible and, above all, stable latency - the basis for convincing live experiences.
Content synchronization
Using clearly defined network paths and consistent routing, we ensure that audio and video signals remain in sync across all relevant nodes. This facilitates the synchronization of streams and feeds across multiple locations, players and playout platforms - for a coherent experience on all channels.
Quality assurance
We continuously monitor availability, capacity utilization, round-trip times and packet losses and visualize them in informative dashboards. Our 24/7 Network Operations Center detects anomaliesat an early stage, initiates countermeasures if necessary and thus reduces the likelihood that your audience will even notice any disruptions in the stream.
Rights and security
We protect your streaming infrastructure technically with measures such as DDoS mitigation, logically separate environments and continuous security monitoring of the relevant transfer points. This creates a resilient security basis on which you can play out your live rights and content reliably, in a controlled manner and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Innovative communication solutions with RIEDEL Networks
"With the right partner in business – and in life – even the biggest obstacles can be overcome. RIEDEL has proven to be the right partner, not only in development, but also for all supporting processes. The certainty of having a reliable network and a dependable partner is invaluable to me. I look forward to working with them on a radio solution for racing cars in other competitive areas."

John Steeghs, Senior Manager Team Management and Logistics at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Europe GmbH

For us, RIEDEL connects two worlds: broadcasting and IT
"When it comes to broadcasting a premier event such as Formula 1, a strong and reliable partnership is an absolute must. We have been working with RIEDEL's RiLink for many years. As soon as the fibre optic cable is connected to our production unit, all systems wake up, immediately connect to their hosts and start sending files or messages."

To make the impossible possible, you need the right partners who approach the task with the same enthusiasm
"RIEDEL has played a key role in enabling us to showcase our work with this project and position ourselves not only as a traditional supplier, but also as a pioneer in the management and control of complex systems. The entire project was only possible because Schaeffler was able to rely on the support of trusted partners such as RIEDEL. And that's not the end of the story."

Daniel Kohl, Head of IT Technical Development Motorsport

Remote production saves time and energy while reducing our carbon emissions compared to traditional media production
"The network is the foundation of our work, and it had to be operational in 85% of our venues at the start of the season. Today, all venues are connected, and we have already produced more than 400 matches in a very short time via our MPLS network. Of course, a remote production model always presents challenges. For example, the league composition changes every year, and new venues often have to be integrated within a few months. But thanks to the experience we have already gained, Dyn Media and Riedel are ideally positioned to do this quickly and efficiently and to continue to grow."

Andreas Heyden, CEO at Dyn Media GmbH
